CLARIN-D is a digital research infrastructure for language resources and tools in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It offers researchers easy access to resources and technologies, and encourages them to add and analyse their own resources to the common pool. Relevant resources for philologies like syntactically annotated text corpora, psycholinguistic experiments, historical texts, lexical resources and much more, are the main focus of CLARIN-D. But also general questions about creation and conduction of research projects are met by CLARIN-D experts. This includes legal and ethical questions, planning of data management, technical tools and expertise exchange.

CLARIN-D is a long-term digital research infrastructure for language resources in the Humanities and Social Sciences. This includes language data bases, highly interoperable language technology tools as well as web based language processing services. Users are the centre of CLARIN-D: researchers and students of Humanities and Social Sciences can use resources and technologies easily and in a standard way, without having to deal with technical complexities of those. They have the possibility to embed their research results in CLARIN-D as a new resource that is then provided for other researches again. The CLARIN-D infrastructure is built upon a network of centres, each of which with its own established competence and international reputation.

On a european level, the national initiative of CLARIN-D is connected with CLARIN ERIC.

As a national initiative CLARIN-D is supported by the German Ministry of Research (BMBF) through the project management agency DLR. In addition, the hosting institutions and states contribute further funds.
