Often the first step of processing a language is to write it down, or transcribe it. Many analyses can be done with such a transcript but it often becomes difficult to trace back the transcript to the original recording. CLARIN supports automatic and timewise alignment of transcript and signal. Doing so it becomes possible to hear how a certain sentence was pronounced, which sounds where audible at the same time, what the speaker reacted to, or simply to illustrate an example. The WebMaus tool is capable of aligning speech signals with their transcriptions automatically, and it supports a number of different languages!
